An apple tree in Anderson Valley in northern California, and a legacy of an old agricultural industry going back to the 1850s or 60s, now eclipsed by the grape.
This week I visited to find the old tree came down in the winds a few weeks ago.
Maybe 3500 photographs – and I seem to remember every one of those moments.
